A good web site to check out for fuel economy is www.fueleconomy.gov. It seems that the Toyota Prius is again the overall winner for several years running. With 48 mpg city and 45 mpg hwy, they have some tough numbers to beat. Other manufacturers are only aspiring to match the Prius. Volkswagen, and the new for 2009, clean diesel TDI have some pretty good numbers to though. There is no doubt that hybrids, clean diesels, and stiff competition are here to stay.
